Food and Firework Extravaganza at the Lough
Antrim Borough Council and Ambassador of Good Food Northern Ireland, Jenny Bristow, staged a culinary celebration over the August Bank Holiday Weekend at Antrim Lough Shore Park as the crowds ascended on the shores of Lough Neagh to sample speciality foods and gourmet produce.
As well as culinary delights, the crowds were entertained during the two day festival by an array of attracions including the Citybeat Radio Roadshow, a samba band, a funfair and organised boat trips on Lough Neagh. Highlights of the festival included the spectacular giant swan lit by fire cans gracefully floating in the Lough, followed by a magnificent display of fireworks to mark the success of the festival.

"As Ambassador of Good Food Northern Ireland, I was delighted to be working alongside Antrim Borough Council to provide a real extravaganza experience for all of the family over the two day festival. The 'Flock to the Lough' Food Festival was a real celebration and a festival of good local food, music and fun."
One of the highlights of the festival, which took place on the Sunday Afternoon was the Teddy Bear's Picnic which was supported by Firmus energy. This event sported the teddy bear's dressed in their Sunday best and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children who took part. As the children enjoyed making their own bears at the interactive workshops, other teddy bears enoyed their picnic while listening to music. It proved a difficult choice for the Mayor to award prizes for the best dressed bears.
Karen Steele, Development Manager (Visior Servicing) commented"'The Flock to the Lough' event was a huge success. We received very positive feedback from the public and we were delighted to have such a fantastic turnout from both local residents and people visiting the region."
