Jenny's Support is a recipe for success in heart nurse appeal

Winner of BHF churnCelebrated TV chef and food author Jenny Bristow has proven to be a vital ingredient in a major fundraising drive to support the Northern Ireland Heart Nurse Appeal.

A competition to win an exclusive, hand-crafted milk churn signed by Jenny, Northern Ireland's good food ambassador, has raised the fantastic sum of £3300.

Collecting cans were placed in stores, filling stations and other businesses throughout Northern Ireland before Christmas. To be in with a chance of winning the churn, people simply had to write their details in a booklet and make an optional donation.

Betty McDowell from Galgorm was the delighted winner of the milk churn and she was presented with her prize by Jenny Bristow, the churn's creator Louise Lester of LL Crafts (coincidentally also in Galgorm) and Gail McKee, BHF Northern Ireland's fundraising and volunteer manager.

D Falconer from Drumahoe was the runner-up and won a Jenny Bristow food hamper as did R McIlroy from Carrickfergus whose business collected the largest sum.

Gail McKee says:

"This unique fundraiser raised a fantastic sum that has given the Northern Ireland Heart Nurse Appeal a real boost"

My thanks must go to Jenny Bristow for supporting the appeal, to Louise Lester from LL Crafts who created this beautiful milk churn, to all the businesses who ran the competition and to everyone who entered the competition and donated money."

The fundraising must continue though and BHF Northern Ireland has lots of fun ideas to help you continue to raise money for us."
